Leonardo da vinci

Leonard Da Vinci (Leonardo di ser Piero da Vinci) was an Italian Renaissance polymath: painter, sculptor, architect, musician, mathematician, engineer, inventor, anatomist, geologist, cartographer, botanist, and writer. He was alive from April 15, 1452 until May 2, 1519, during his lifetime he had created some of the most iconic pieces of art which we still view to this day.
Da vinci has created a huge impact on the worlds art today, many say it is because of his unique effect, caused by the scientific approach to his art work. He was one of the few artists who mastered the concept of the “vanishing point”, which involves creating a remarkable sense of depth and three-dimensionality in a two-dimensional frame. His work generally revolves around the human figure, in which most of his art work is based one person or a group of people. Da vinci's work looks realistic to a point, due to the age of the painting some of work has faded although it is still visually easy to make out. The work Leonardo has done tells a story, 'the last supper' was how he visualised Jesus's last meal with his disciples.
This remarkable painting is hanging on a wall of the refectory (dining hall) in the convent of the Santa Maria delle Grazie in Milan. It is a very remarkable piece of art as each disciple is showing humanly features and facial emotions. The last supper was certainly painted before this, however no artist had painted real people to look and act like real people. This painting has taken Da vinci 3 years to paint, starting in 1495 and finishing in 1498. He had painted the picture for his employer, Ludovico Sforza, duke of Milan.
I think Da vinci's work is pleasing on many levels, he has created a structure of fine art, painted people as real human figures and told stores in his own view from his art. In my opinion his work has left an ever lasting effect on a large amount of people. I would use his ways of human development for my own work, however i would not choose Da vinci has a main inspiration as his work is mainly based around humanity and christianity, which is not what i am aiming towards.
